Any ideas on how to keep curls/waves in really straight hair??

I have extremely straight hair, so most the time when I try to curl it or make it wavy, it won't stay. Any ideas on how to keep the curls in w/o a ton of hairspray?

After you shower sprits some hairspray gel in your wet hair and leave it, don't blow dry your hair. Just let it air dry. The next day, you're hair should be a little more textury and it won' be as straight as before, then curl your hair and put some mousse in it and if nesccesary spritz a little hairspray in it. try getting mouse or scrunching gel make sure your hair is wet when you do it it flip your head upside down spray in the scrunching spray scrunch it then flip it up again scrunch even more and then put in your hairspray

use a gel like hair product instead of hairspray

use the kind that is moisterizing so you can use the curling iron.

Ok I have very straight, fine...baby fine blonde hair. My hairstylists says it's the 'worst' kinda hair to work with. Anyway: You must get a PERM. That's the only way. No other way will 'keep' curls in. Just don't go for a tight one. That way you can style it and won't have to use hairspray. ALso: if you live where it's really humid; you can actually wash and go and still look great. Hairspray is so gummy; can't stand it either.

put harspray on a strand of hair before you curl it and then it holds better without putting a lot of hairspray on after. it also helps if before you curl your hair if you dont use conditioner when you shower because itt makes your hair harder to style.

I have a sneaky suspicion those of us with super straight hair have been cursed. No mater what we try, curling is one thing we can't do. I went as far as trying to have it professional done. It lasted 30 minutes. My hair was down to my shoulders then. Today I just let it grow and its down to the middle of my butt and I keep it as healthy and shiny as I can and try to keep the black (I am Native Indian and Sicilian) from fading by using gentle shampoos. If I cant style it by damn I'll at least have nice hair to show for it! LOL =D.
